Carlin has confirmed Weiron Tan will join the team for the remainder of the FIA European Formula 3 championship alongside regular drivers Alessio Lorandi and Ryan Tveter.

The Malaysian driver was selected by the British squad for round four of the Euro F3 championship at the Red Bull Ring to fill the race seat vacated by Raoul Hyman after he was forced to split with the team due to funding issues.

Despite skipping round five at the Norisring Tan will return with Carlin this weekend at Zandvoort and the team says it has retained the youngster's services for the remainder of the 2016 campaign.

Tan is relishing his opportunity to impress in Euro F3 having secured backing to join Carlin and has been filled with confidence after finishing the in-season Hockenheim test sixth fastest overall.

"I'm delighted to be joining Carlin for the remaining FIA F3 races this year. Big thank you to Resorts World Genting and Trevor [Carlin, team boss] for making this possible," Tan said. "I really enjoyed my time with the team in Austria and I want to learn as much as possible in the races ahead and improve with every outing.

"While the rest of the field have an additional half a season's racing and testing on me, I know I have the support around me to make some good progress in the months ahead. We had a good official test in Hockenheim recently, ending P6 overall, which showed potential so I'm really looking forward to the upcoming events."
