British Formula 3 driver Brendon Hartley will make his second appearance on the European stage after being called up to the Carlin Motorsport squad as a replacement for Richard Philippe.
The New Zealander, who competes with Carlin in the British Championship, made his Euroseries debut recently at the Nurburgring, albeit at the wheel of a Volkswagen-powered RC Motorsport machine.
He will join Rodolfo Gonzalez in the team for the latest round at Barcelona in place of Philippe, who has jumped ship to French outfit SG Formula. He fills a third seat that has been vacant since Tom Dillmann lost his Red Bull-backing.
Elsewhere, the announcement that Martin Plowman is to seek his fortune in the US-based Indy Lights Series has prompted RC Motorsport to sign Peter Elkmann. Elkmann enjoyed decent success with the small Jo Zeller outfit back in 2006, even winning a race at Brands Hatch, but has not raced competitively for some time.
Finally, Formula Renault stalwarts Epsilon/Barazi will make a tentative step into Formula 3 with Stephane Richelmi. The Monegasque driver has been competing in the Formula Renault Eurocup this season, but is yet to score a point.
