Ultimate Motorsport has announced its immediate withdrawal from the 2008 British F3 International Series as it switches its focus towards the 2009 season.

The team has revealed that it is to end its relationship with Mygale and switch to a Dallara chassis next year, which will take it inline with the majority of the British F3 grid.

Due to the testing limits in place in the series during the season, the team will now miss the season finale at Donington Park in order to start running the new Dallara F308 and team boss Barry Walsh admitted it hadn't been an easy decision to make.

"This is not a decision we have taken lightly, but our duty is to consider the team's best interests in 2009," he said. "We now need to play catch-up with the teams that are a year ahead of us in developing the F308 Dallara, in order to be right on the pace for next season."

"This means that we have no time to spare, and unfortunately we have no choice but to take this course of action in order to maximise test and development time. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Bertrand Decoster and the whole Mygale team, who helped us to achieve two wins and several more podiums, as well as all our competitors on the British Formula 3 series this year.

"We look forward to racing against them once more next season and coming back better than ever."

Ultimate has used the Mygale chassis since debuting in British F3 last season, and took its first wins with the car at Snetterton earlier this year - when Irish driver Michael Devaney took victory in both races.
