Bird inks Mucke deal.

Sam Bird has revealed that he will join Mucke Motorsport for the 2009 F3 Euroseries season.

The Briton, who raced for Manor in his maiden assault on the series, will look to follow in the footsteps of people like Robert Kubica and Sebastian Vettel, both of whom drove for Mucke earlier in their careers before moving into Formula One. Another former Mucke driver, Sebastien Buemi, is widely tipped to follow suit in 2009.

Having finished just outside the top ten in his first season in the Euroseries, Bird admitted he was thrilled to have joined one of the leading teams for his second year and was hopeful of fighting for the title.

“I am absolutely delighted to have signed with Mucke,” he said. “We were fortunate enough to be able to speak with the best teams in the Series and, everything considered, my management team and I felt that Mucke was the very best choice.

“I want to say a special thank you to Peter Mucke for putting his faith in me. I also want to thank my managers at CJ Motorsport Consulting and my sponsors for making this possible.”

Team boss Mucke was also delighted with the deal.

“I am very pleased to sign Sam as our Formula 3 Euroseries driver,” he said. “We were interested in him already last year, so we are very happy to have reached an agreement to run him in 2009.

“I think Sam is a very talented driver which has certainly the ability to fight with us for the title. We look forward to the working with him.”

Sam Bird is one of the most talented up and coming driver's in motor sport today, and if it had not been for bad luck would have won this series well before now. Plus he is a great ambassador and credit to motor sport , because he will always go that extra mile for his fans. I am delighted he has a drive this season with a top team. Tony
