Mucke Motorsport will field two British drivers in its 2009 F3 Euroseries line-up after concluding a deal with McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year award winner Alexander Sims.
The 20-year-old, who finished second in the 2008 Formula Renault UK Championship, will join up with Marco Wittmann and Sam Bird for his first season of F3 competition, with the deal having been signed following a strong performance during a post-season test at Lausitz.
“I'm truly delighted with having the chance of contesting the 2009 Formula 3 Euro Series season for Mucke Motorsport,” Sims said. “At the end of the 2008 season, Peter Mucke invited me to test at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz and the test proved to be a very successful one.
“Mucke is a very professional team and proved to be the only one that had what it took to consistently deliver on the same level as a team like ART in the 2008 Formula 3 Euro Series season.”
Team boss Peter Mucke meanwhile was delighted to have Sims onboard and said he was confident that the rookie will be a strong addition to the Mucke line-up.
“I think we will be able to secure podium finishes with Alexander,” he said. “Who knows? Maybe this competitive rookie will be able to celebrate a race win every now and then.”
