Max Chilton: Q&A.

After finishing tenth in the championship standings last season, Max Chilton will hope for bigger and better things in the 2009 British F3 International Series as he makes the move to multiple champions Carlin for the new campaign.

The teenager will be joined in the Carlin line-up by Daniel Ricciardo for the season ahead as he looks to help the team to the title for the second straight year and Crash.net caught up with him to discuss the year ahead.

Crash.net:
Max, it was you first full season in F3 last season and you're doing F3 again in 2009 but with a different team, so how much are you looking forward to the season ahead?

Max Chilton:
I'm really looking forward to it. It'll be my third year and I've really got to nail it to be honest. I'll be with Carlin, which I know are a good team after finishing one-two-three this year. I've been testing with them and I was quickest - even though Autosport said I wasn't. I'm looking forward to it, it should be good.

Crash.net:
How big an opportunity will it be to join the team that obviously dominated the title race last season?

Max Chilton:
I think it's going to be great. They have a lot more cars than Hitech and a lot more data. They are so good and have been doing it for so many years; they've got so much knowledge.

Crash.net:
How would you sum up the way that your 2008 season went because it was one that promised a lot but the results you were looking were perhaps didn't happen?

Max Chilton:
Yeah, still it was only my second year in single-seaters but the start of the season was definitely better than towards the end. During the middle of the season we got a bit confused and were really having some quite bad results and then towards the end we started to pick them back up but we never got back to where we'd started off the season.

Crash.net:
You've mentioned the strong testing pace so far, Carlin obviously switching engine suppliers to Volkswagen for 2009. As a driver, has there been a noticeable difference compared with the Mercedes from last year?

Max Chilton:
No I wouldn't say that when I drove the Volkswagen I noticed the difference. The only difference as a driver was the sound. It's just good to have the newer stuff and be part of the new VW package.

Crash.net:
Do you think it's going to be a strong package for the season ahead?

Max Chilton:
