Euro: Vernay wins second Hockenheim race

Jean-Karl Vernay has secured his first win in the F3 Euroseries after leading the way throughout the second race of the weekend at Hockenheim.

The Signature driver started from the second row of the grid but led the field into the first corner and was able to break away from the field along with Christian Vietoris and held off the challenge of the Mucke man to secure victory.

“My start was good, that was the key to success,” Vernay said. “Initially, Christian was quicker behind me, but I could hold off his attacks and retain first place. Then I tried to pull a gap over him, which I did indeed.”

Jules Bianchi took third for ART after a race long battle with Mika Maki, while race one winner Stefano Coletti and Sam Bird completed the points scorers in fifth and sixth.

Atte Mustonen, who started from pole thanks to the reverse grid draw, ended up outside the points in seventh place, while Alex Sims, Henkie Waldschmidt and Roberto Mehri rounded out the top ten.
