Euro: Bianchi doubles up at Zandvoort

Jules Bianchi made light of the reverse grid rules to secure a second F3 Euroseries victory of the weekend at Zandvoort and strengthen his lead in the championship standings.

Bianchi started from eighth after his victory in the opening race but battled his way through to the head of the pack to take the win, climbing up to second before reeling in Sam Bird for the lead.

The result makes Bianchi only the second driver to win both races in a weekend – the first being current F1 ace Sebastian Vettel three years ago at the Nurburgring.

“The race was fantastic,” he said. “My car was great this weekend, I never had such a good car before. I am happy that I now also have a comfortable lead in the points' standings. But nothing has been decided yet and we have to keep on working hard.”

Bird was forced to settle for second place while Carlin driver Jake Rosenzweig made it onto the podium in third. Christian Vietoris, Jean-Karl Vernay and Valtteri Bottas rounded out the points scorers.
