Marko Asmer secured his maiden victory in the British F3 International Series after surviving an incident packed second race at Oulton Park.

After an opening race that had seen little in the way of action, the second race more than made up for it, with two major incidents resulting in race stoppages before Asmer finally ended Hitech's victory drought in a shortened, ten lap sprint.

When the race got underway for the first time, rookie Sebastien Hohenthal made the best start from the second row of the grid to lead into Old Hall from pole-man Jonathan Kennard and race one winner Maro Engel, but the Swede's joy would prove to be short-lived when an incident involving Michael Meadows, Albert Costa and Hamad Al Fardan gave race officials no option but to throw out the red flags to allow the damaged cars to be removed.

At the second time of asking, it was Stephen Jelley who got away quickest to lead, while Asmer also made a good start from the second row to slot into second place. This time the field would manage to make it round to Druids, before all hell was let loose and six cars were removed from contention – with Alberto Valerio and Rodolfo Avila getting involved and Sean Petterson, Leo Mansell, Sergio Perez and Alex Waters also being forced to retire. The field then lined up on the grid to await a second restart as damaged barriers were repaired – with the Fluid Motorsport Lola of Juan Pablo Garcia Samano going up in smoke at the back of the field.

All-in-all, it meant that only 21 cars took the start of the shortened ten lap race, and this time it was Asmer who got away quicker than his rivals to lead into Old Hall from Jelley and Hohentahl with Kennard dropping to fourth ahead of Engel and Sam Bird.

From there, the top six would remain unchanged to the finish, despite Jelley doing his best to find a way into the lead and both Kennard and Bird putting the car's ahead under pressure in the closing stages.

Behind the top six, Greg Mansell ensured that at least one of the brothers was smiling as he took seventh place ahead of Walter Grubmuller, Rodolfo Gonzalez and Niall Breen. Esteban Guerrieri just missed a top ten finish for the new Ultimate Motorsport Mygale in eleventh place.

For the second race in a row, Frankie Cheng took victory in the National Class which went someway to improving the mood in Bobby Issazadhe's team after the earlier problems for Avila and Al Fardan, while Viktor Jensen and Salman Al Khalifa completed the podium.
