Marco Wittmann secured his maiden F3 Euroseries win in the opening race of the weekend at Hockenheim.
From pole, Wittmann lost out to Daniel Juncadella at the start but was able to fight back to get ahead of the Prema driver and led all the way to the chequered flag ahead of Signature team-mate Edoardo Mortara.
Mortara's second place allows him to retain the championship lead going into the second race of the weekend with Valtteri Bottas completing the podium for ART despite an engine issue on his car that resulted in a loss of power exiting low speed corners.
Bottas held on to edge Roberto Mehri in the run for third, with Mehri settling for fourth and Adrian Quaife-Hobbs fifth. Esteban Gutierrez, Antonio Felix da Costa and Juncadella rounded out the top eight – the latter having gradually slipped down the order as the race wore on.
Alex Sims and Laurens Vanthoor were the only retirements after an incident at turn two on the opening lap which saw Sims run into the rear of Vanthoor's car.
