Sebastien Buemi says he is impressed by the quality and performance of the new Formula E racer having emerged from pre-season testing as the early pace setter.

Driving for the Renault-backed, GP2 title-winning e.dams outfit, Buemi was quickest in three of the four tests around Donington Park, ending with the fastest time of all.

A return to single-seater racing having plied his trade with Toyota in the World Endurance Championship in recent years, former Scuderia Toro Rosso F1 driver Buemi says he is impressed with the electric-powered Formula E car's performance at this early stage in its development.

"This is the most important quality in a single-make formula. I really enjoy driving this car," he said. "I was pleasantly surprised by its behaviour - it's a real racer! You have to learn how to manage all the parameters to get the best out of them and we're making big steps forward."

The opening round of the 2014/15 Formula E Championship will take place in Beijing in September
