With less than a month to go before the opening round of the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship, Sebastien Buemi and the e.dams Renault team have established themselves as the early favourites following pre-season testing.

The all-electric series wrapped up official testing at Donington Park this week, with former F1 driver and leading sportscar racer Buemi emerging quickest yet again. The Swiss driver has topped all-but-one of the official five test days.

Attention is now turning to the season opener in Beiing on September 13th, with teams and drivers focusing on race strategies and the rigours that will be associated with the all-new series.

Indeed, though Buemi was certainly pleased with his pre-season pace, he admits the unique aspects of the championship - such as the single race day format, changing cars mid-race and finding the balance between and speed and efficiency -, are expected to create a whole different challenge come the opening event.

"We're really happy with today, especially being the last test before Beijing," said Buemi. "We still have a few issues with the car which we need to work on and also to better understand the limits of the car. Overall we're feeling good for the first race but we'll have to wait and see, a lot of teams are also looking quick."

Team-mate Nicolas Prost - whose four-time F1 World Championship winning father Alain co-owns the e.dams project - followed up Buemi in second place but reiterates that Beijing will be an entirely new experience.

"We had a few issues with traffic but overall it's gone well and the team are now focused on Beijing, which is going to be a completely different experience for everyone."
