Simonsen secures Spa seat

Allan Simonsen will start the Proximus 24 Hours of Spa among the favourites for the GT2 class after inking a deal to join Scuderia Ecosse for the latest round of the FIA GT Championship.

Simonsen will partner Chris Niarchos and Tim Mullen in one of the teams Ferrari 430s for the annual 24 hour event and he said he was excited at the prospect of taking part.

"I am really looking forward to this race with Scuderia Ecosse,” he said.

"Spa is a favourite of mine and I've got good experience with the Ferrari 430 from the European GT3 Championship this year.

"As the only Ferrari team to be running Michelins I think we're in with a mega chance.”

Marino Franchitti will join Nathan Kinch and Andrew Kirkaldy in the sister car.
