Guillaume Moreau has admitted that the time has come to rid his mind of thoughts of Formula One and turn his attention to securing sportscar racing's biggest titles instead.

The Frenchman, currently the reigning Le Mans Series GT1 champion, is setting himself new challenges for the 2009 season as he shares a Luc Alphand Adventures Corvette C6.R with Dutchman Xavier Maassen in search of the FIA GT Championship title. He will also race in his third Le Mans 24 Hours in the Sarthe-based team's Corvette.

Over the past two seasons, Moreau has tried to combine parallel programmes in the World Series by Renault and Le Mans Series, but, despite having been successful in both single-seaters and sportscars, he has admitted that it is time to dedicate himself to endurance racing.

“I've shown what I can do in single-seaters," the 25-year old insisted, "I raced with Hamilton, Vettel and Sutil and I was on the rostrum with them. Despite that, I would only be fooling myself if I go on thinking that the doors of Formula One will open to me one day.

"Everybody has his own destiny. Today, I feel that my future lies in endurance racing and I'm convinced that it's the form of racing that will predominate in the years to come. The programmes announced in the last few months have only reinforced my conviction.”

After making his prototype debut in 2007, Moreau joined the Luc Alphand Adventures team to drive its Corvette C6.R last season, and is delighted to have the chance to remain on board for 2009.

“I've learned a lot from the team," he admitted, "I did my apprenticeship in GTs and I'm proud that I finished my first season in the category without making any mistakes. We had rostrum finishes in all the races and our two wins helped us to the Le Mans Series title. Now, I want to set myself new aims.”

The Frenchman's ambition is to move even higher up the ladder, and he sees the FIA GT Championship as another step towards that aim.

“It's a logical follow-on," he explained, "After taking the title in the Le Mans Series in our first season, I wanted to aim higher and the FIA GT Championship, which will become an official FIA World Championship next season, is a fantastic challenge.
