Davidson joins Gigawave for Spa

Having run in the Le Mans 24 Hours as part of the Aston Martin Racing team, former Formula One racer Anthony Davidson will take in his second major sportscar event of the season at Spa after being named as the third driver in the Gigawave team for the biggest event of the FIA GT Championship season.

Davidson will join regular drivers Darren Turner and Michael Krumm at the wheel of the team's NISMO-developed Nissan GT-R, which is one of three 2010-spec GT1 cars competing in the series this season.

The car debuted in the series during the opening round of the year at Silverstone and then returned to the series at Oschersleben to take a ninth place finish.

Heading to Spa and the biggest test yet for the new car, the team will now hope to repeat the success it enjoyed in Belgium last year where it took the final step on the podium with its Aston Martin DBR9.

"We've taken an untested car and developed and proved it before in endurance racing," Gigawave chairman Henry Barczynski said, "and with good support and strong team co-operation, the NISMO partnership could help us to maintain our record.”
