David Brabham has been entrusted with the first competitive outing of Nissan's new GT3 class GT-R, as JR Motorsports enters the machine in round four of the Blancpain Endurance Series at Magny-Cours next weekend.

The car, which is being jointly developed between NISMO - Nissan Motorsports International Co Ltd - and JRM, will be shared during the three-hour race by Brabham and British star Richard Westbrook, as the GT3 GT-R's development programme ramps up.

JRM is using the Magny-Cours event as a test to see how the car performs in a competitive environment and has already stated that the final result is not the most important aspect of its participation this weekend.

“Testing has been underway since earlier this year and the car has run very well," JRM managing director Andy Barnes commented, "We now want to place it into a competitive environment as part of its continued development. We have no intention of racing to win at this stage, as we are focused on putting race-miles on the car and collecting as much data as possible.”

The Magny-Cours race also precedes the car's official launch, which is scheduled to take place in October, and JRM is also planning other appearances before the end of the year, both in the UK and Europe.
