CRS confirms title assault.

After a successful debut season, CRS Racing is gearing up for an all-out assault on this year's FIA GT title with an unchanged driver line-up and new focus.

Chris Niarchos, Andrew Kirkaldy, Rob Bell and Tim Mullen will continue to pilot the team's red, white and blue Ferraris, determined to make up for the unfinished business left when last year's championship slipped away in the closing stages of the season. Having taken the teams' championship in the British GT series, and the drivers' title in Formula Renault UK, the FIA GT crown will be a major ambition for the squad, which goes into the year with a mildly revised moniker, having been known as CR Scuderia in 2008.

Leading the charge will be the #56 entry of Kirkaldy and Bell, both of whom bring GT prowess to the table. Kirkaldy has more FIA GT championship pole positions than any other driver in history, whilst Bell is a double Le Mans Series GT2 champion.

“Rob and I were disappointed with the end result in 2008,” Kirkaldy admitted, "We were often the fastest GT2 car out there, and we started the season strongly, but the results didn't come our way. We took the two wins in Bucharest, but we need the kind of regular results that win championships. CRS was a new team in 2008, but it has all come together now and we are in a position to start strongly when the season kicks off.”

Team principal Niarchos will the #55 Ferrari alongside long-time team-mate Mullen, knowing that they have won at this level before.

“2008 was a great first year for CRS,” Niarchos insisted, “but now the hard work continues as we have to keep our focus and raise our game even higher. We want to do well in every championship we enter and make continual positive progress. Times are tough for everyone at the moment, but we have set up this team on very firm foundations and we will be pushing harder than ever before in 2009.”

The FIA GT Championship gets underway at the beginning of May with the Tourist Trophy meeting at Silverstone.
