Gigawave Motorsport has been named as the team that will give the new NISMO-developed Nissan Skyline GT-R its debut in the FIA GT Championship during the 2009 campaign.
The new car has been developed with the new 2010 regulations in mind and with the Japanese marquee having one eye on the planned FIA GT World Championship.
The GT-R will now take part in four events in 2009 running as a non-championship entry to allow NISMO to 'check the performance of cars to be sold to racing teams competng in the FIA GT1 class'.
As part of the partnership, each party will provide one of the drivers with the line-up expected to see NISMO's Michael Krumm partnered with Gigawave's Darren Turner.
The announcement of the NISMO programme comes shortly after Gigawave received news that it has secured an entry into the Le Mans 24 Hours this summer with its Aston Martin DBR9.
It remains to be seen what the impact of the NISMO deal will be on the Aston Martin FIA GT programme, which went from strength-to-strength last season in what was the team's first full year of competition.
