Two car entry for ProSpeed

Prospeed Competition has confirmed that it will again field a two-car team in the FIA GT Championship during the 2009 season.

The finished third in the GT2 teams' standings last season after emerging as the strongest Porsche outfit on the grid, while Richard Westbrook took third in the drivers' championship.

Westbrook will now return for the season ahead as he continues to be teamed with Porsche factory driver Emmanuel Collard, while drivers for the second Porsche 997 RSR have yet to be decided.

“In 2008 we had a strong and homogenous duo with Emmanuel Collard and Richard Westbrook, as proven by victories in Monza and Nogaro, and we're therefore pleased that we can throw in our lot with them once more,” team boss Rudi Penders said. “Emmanuel is once again on the list of official Porsche-drivers and is the only one competing in the FIA GT. This will also be the case for us, being most probably the sole Porsche-team in FIA GT, and moreover with the support from Porsche, which for all the ProSpeed Competition members is confirmation of the excellent work and constant progression made.

“The second Porsche 911 GT3 RSR will also be in the hands of a fast duo, but further news on that subject will follow shortly. We want to have everything in the bag prior to breaking the news. However you can rest assured that we are out to score points with both cars as the team championship is also one of our objectives.

“It goes without saying that for us opting for the FIA GT championship is an obvious choice. The championship, and definitely the FIA GT2, is a tremendously edifying competition with an enormous magnetism. And especially with a view to the upcoming evolutions in 2010 we obviously want to show our full strength this coming season.”

Both cars will be fully updated to 2009-spec for the new season, while Prospeed will also continue to run a brace of cars in the European FIA GT3 Championship.
