Vitaphone Maserati pair Michael Bartels and Andrea Bertolini continued their dominance of the FIA GT1 field in Brno with a comfortable victory in the qualifying race.
Having topped the time sheets throughout qualifying to secure pole position, Bartels made a fine start to the race to maintain the lead and was never troubled as he pulled away from the field before pitting to hand over to Bertolini.
He then kept the lead to the chequered flag despite the best efforts of Tomas Enge to close in at the wheel of the Young Driver AMR Aston Martin.
The Czech driver – partnered by Darren Turner – had to settle for second place ahead of Michael Krumm in the first of the Sumo Power Nissans.
In all, six manufacturers filled the top six places on the grid.
The victory for Bartels and Bertolini puts them top of the standings heading into today's feature race.
