Alonso poised for official Ferrari debut

11 January 2010

It may have been one of the worst kept secrets in Formula One, and also one of the most eagerly anticipated couplings ahead of 2010, but Fernando Alonso has had to wait before making his Ferrari debut.

Until now.

Although he appeared alongside Luca Badoer, Giancarlo Fisichella and the recovering Felipe Massa at the now familiar end-of-season celebrations at Valencia in November, Alonso was forced to wear casual clothes as opposed to full Ferrari regalia, but that will change when the Spaniard turns out at the traditional pre-season Wroom media event in Italy this week.

Alonso is due to arrive in the Madonna di Campiglio ski resort this afternoon [Monday], where he will join team-mate Massa and the Ducati Marlboro MotoGP team for the 20th Wroom gathering. Team principal Stefano Domenicali arrives on Tuesday, with the event scheduled to last until Saturday.

While the key personnel enjoy themselves on the slopes under the glare of the cameras, however, work continues apace in Maranello, where final preparations are being made to the team's 2010 challenger, codenamed 281, which is scheduled to appear on track for the first time at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia on 1 February.
