Red Bull pair expect change

25 November 2011

Red Bull pair Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber said they were expecting conditions to change in Brazil after a dry start to the final weekend of the F1 season at Interlagos.

The pair ended Friday practice second and third quickest behind the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton and enjoyed a solid day on track – with Webber going quickest in the morning before slipping behind Hamilton and Vettel in the second session of the day.

However, both were happy with their days work as teams made the most of some dry running ahead of the rain that is expected to arrive over the course of the weekend.

"The track is hot, not super hot in terms of ambient conditions, but the track is very warm and it's humid too,” Webber said. “It's also pretty windy, so it wasn't the easiest day to get the car dialled in and balanced, but clearly it was the same for everybody. I think we had a pretty good day; there are lots of sets of compounds to go through, as it might be the last time we get to run in the dry as there's potentially some wet weather coming - but we had a good day."

Title winner Vettel, who was a tenth of a second down on Hamilton on the times, said he felt there was still more to come from the Red Bull package as he seeks to end the season with another victory.

"I think we were able to improve the car throughout today, but we definitely need to make another step,” he said. “It was hot today and the circuit was slippery, although rain is forecast for the next two days, so I think the conditions will change.

“We're all here to win and it would be great to finish with a good race, but it's a long weekend ahead and a lot of things can happen. It's challenging track and we all like coming here, it's a good grand prix."
