Petrov to demo at Moscow circuit opener

5 July 2012

Vitaly Petrov is to demonstrate a Caterham F1 car at the opening event of the new Moscow Raceway later this month.

The Russian will hit the track during the Renault World Series meeting at the Volokolamsk venue, which is the latest circuit to be designed by Hermann Tilke.

Fans attending the event will also have the opportunity to win a passenger ride of the circuit alongside Petrov in a Renault Megane RS.

"I get a lot of positive emotions every time I visit Russia, and much more so at events where there are fans,” he said. “I think this is really important as not many of them can visit a grand prix and television pictures do not provide the complete atmosphere of Formula 1.

"I hope to give a lot of positive emotions to spectators during the upcoming demo runs in the Moscow region and I invite all motorsport fans to visit the World Series by Renault meeting - there will be a lot of fun!"

News that Petrov will demo his F1 car at the event comes just days after Charlie Whiting said he felt the circuit was suitable for a Formula 1 race, despite a deal being agreed for a Russian race in the city of Sochi instead [See separate story HERE].
