Di Resta: Crucial decision coming up

20 July 2012

Paul di Resta has admitted that he is facing a 'crucial decision' about his F1 future as he seeks to determine where he will be driving for the 2013 season.

The Scot has been linked with a number of teams having impressed for Force India again so far this season, although his plans for the future took a twist ahead of his home race at Silverstone when news broke of a split with manager Anthony Hamilton.

According to Sky Sports, di Resta is now taking advice from Jenson Button's manager Richard Goddard and the former DTM champion said he was entering an important stage in his career as he looks to decide his future.

"I appreciate I face a crucial decision. I need to decide pretty quickly what way I want to go," he said. "At the end of the day it's the results I need to concentrate on because the biggest thing for me is making sure I'm in a Formula One car for next year.

"Right now I'm with Force India doing the best job possible for them, and they're trying to get the best results for me. I'm just trying to secure a drive for the future.

"I honestly don't know where things are. It's fairly confusing what is going on at the moment, even with Lewis [Hamilton] and what he is doing. I don't think anybody has a true indication of what he is doing, or what direction he is going.

“We've two big weekends before the August break, and I believe that is the time to make sure you are putting yourself in the right places and making sure you know what you are doing."

Di Resta was also pushed more on his split with Hamilton, but refused to go into any details about why the split had occurred.

"It's all just happened,” he said. “It's pretty raw, and I'm dealing with it when I've got time.”
