Alguersuari hopeful of F1 return
26 September 2012
Jaime Alguersuari says he is 'sure' he will be back in F1 after revealing that his will miss the next three races to focus on preparing for 2013.
The Spaniard has been working with BBC Radio 5 Live
as a co-commentator this season after losing his drive with Toro Rosso, while also carrying out test and development work with Pirelli on the tyres it will provide for teams next season.
However, writing his post-Singapore column on the BBC
website, Alguersuari revealed that he was to turn his focus towards his on-track career in the coming month as he works towards a return to the grid next year.
“I have been really enjoying my commentary role at BBC Radio 5 Live
this year but I won't be going to the next three races,” he wrote. “It had been planned for some time. It's better for me to prepare for next year, to keep my training up, as I'm sure I will be back driving in F1.
“I also have an important test with Pirelli in Paul Ricard, France, in two weeks' time, where we are going to be deciding on the specification of next year's wet tyres. Apart from that I will dedicate myself to training.
“I will be back with the BBC
for the final two races of the year in the USA and Brazil.”
