F1 China 2013: da Costa named Red Bull reserve

10 April 2013

Antonio Felix da Costa has been named as Red Bulls reserve driver for this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix.

The Portuguese youngster will take on the role for both Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso in Shanghai in place of regular third driver Sebastien Buemi – who is competing in the opening round of the World Endurance Championship with Toyota at Silverstone.

Da Costa is one of Red Bull's Junior drivers and is competing in Formula Renault 3.5 this season with Arden Caterham; taking victory in race two at Monza last weekend.

The 21-year-old finished fourth in the standings with the same team last year despite only joining the grid from the fourth meeting of the campaign, while he also finished third in GP3 with Carlin.

Da Costa, who also won the 2012 running of the Macau Grand Prix, tested for Red Bull during the Young Driver session in Abu Dhabi back in November.
