Future open for Raikkonen
11 April 2013
Kimi Raikkonen says he is keeping an open mind about his F1 future with no deal currently in place for the 2014 season.
The Finn returned to the grid with Lotus last year, winning in Abu Dhabi en-route to third in the championship standings.
Victory in Australia this season means he heads to Shanghai this weekend sitting second in the standings behind Sebastian Vettel, with the Finn having been mentioned in recent weeks as one possible option for the defending champions if it finds itself looking for a new driver for 2014.
Speaking to reporters in China, Raikkonen shrugged off that speculation and insisted that rumours about his future were nothing new – with no contract with Lotus, or anyone else, in place for 2014.
"There are always rumours in Formula One, it's normal to be honest," he said. "I don't have a contract for next season and I have no plans. Usually you guys make the rumours so we'll see what happens, but this season is only two races old and we'll see how it goes.
"I don't have a contract so I don't really have a plan. I probably will be [in F1], but this is a funny place and so far I have no contract."
