Horner coy on Toro Rosso duo

12 June 2013

Red Bull Team Principal, Christian Horner, says it is too early to judge whether Toro Rosso driver's Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo are ready to make the jump to the mother team.

The pair have scored 20 points combined for Toro Rosso this season, with Vergne's sixth place at the 2013 F1 Canadian Grand Prix being the team's highlight.

Red Bull's Horner insists he is pleased with the duo's progress but believes it is too early to make a judgement on either of them joining his team in the near future.

“It's great to see the progress they are making," he was quoted by Planet-F1.

"I think the two of them are both very capable drivers and they are feeding off each other. They almost alternate over different weekends, and it is great to see young talent starting to flourish.

"It is still too early to make a call, but we have all the information through working with those guys and we are following them closely.”

There is growing speculation that the second Red Bull seat could be up for grabs for the 2014 season, with Mark Webber rumoured to be considering his future in the sport.
