Vergne looking to continue good form

13 June 2013

Jean-Eric Vergne says he is looking for another good showing at Silverstone in two weeks' time, after achieving his highest ever finish in F1 in Canada.

The Toro Rosso driver finished sixth in the 2013 F1 Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, after qualifying in an impressive seventh.

But the Frenchman admits that despite it being a strong result for himself and the team, the focus must now switch to repeating the same at the British Grand Prix: “This is an important result, it shows we are doing a good job, especially at the factory,” Vergne said.

“It gives everybody in the team a shot of confidence and that includes me. So much so that on Sunday evening I was having a long chat with my engineer about the next race, in Silverstone. We have to keep the momentum and I'm looking forward to racing there again.

“I was very pleased with the result in Canada. It's my best F1 finish and it is nice to put more points on the board. Ultimately though, the points are not that important, it's the fact that the performance was good that is important. Sixth place is a good result but we need to forget it now and look forward.”

Vergne now lies twelfth in the driver's championship on 13 points, five ahead of Toro Rosso team-mate, Daniel Ricciardo, heading into Silverstone.
