Get set for the 2013 F1 Singapore Grand Prix!

29 June 2013

The battle for the World Championship moves into high gear as Singapore prepares to host the 13th race of the Formula One™ calendar from September 20-22.

Set against the backdrop of heritage buildings, iconic modern architecture and a glowing city skyline, the world's only Formula One™ night race will once again captivate with a unique combination of sights, sound and an electric atmosphere at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Martin Whitmarsh, Team Principal for Vodafone McLaren Mercedes said: “The Singapore Grand Prix has become one of the season's 'destination' races… the crackling tension that comes from staging a grand prix on the edge of darkness, makes it one of the best races of the season. The fusion of its oriental setting, glittering skyline and demanding high speed course make it feel more like you're watching a Hollywood movie than an international sport.”

During the bursting weekend, over a quarter of a million spectators will witness first-hand Formula One™ cars racing on public roads at exhilarating speeds of up to 300km/h at one of the most challenging circuits of the Formula One™ season. With nearly two hours of intense racing, the drivers are pushed to the very limit both physically and mentally as they concentrate each lap on the 23 corners, 80 gear changes, strategic overtaking points, up to 3Gs of force, constant adjustments to the cars set up, plus using the tyres to the maximum effect throughout their performance window, victory is always well deserved.

Set in the heart of downtown Singapore, it is an extraordinary challenge for race promoter Singapore GP to transform the city centre into a high tech Formula One™ circuit. Lit by 1500 light projectors, the track is transformed from night into day to by brightness four times that of a traditional sports stadium, connected by more than 108 kilometres of cables.

The 2013 season is becoming another classic with five previous World Champions on the grid, three of which are Singapore Grand Prix winners. Enjoy hours of on-track action from Formula One™ and the support races - GP2 and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia - as well as the electrifying entertainment line-up that includes Rihanna, The Killers, Tom Jones, Bob Geldof and Dynamo. In addition, be treated to a myriad of roving acts and a spectacular fireworks display to wrap up the adrenaline-charged weekend at Asia's biggest sporting and entertainment extravaganza.

On top of that and for the first time at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, the 2013 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX will feature The Closing Concert on Monday, 23 September, with separately ticketed power-packed performances featuring Canadian pop star Justin Bieber and special guests at the Padang Stage.

The Singapore Grand Prix is continually looking to reinvent and make sure that there is certainly something for everyone. Fans can choose from a variety of ticket options including walkabout passes, grandstand tickets and world-class hospitality suites. Moreover, take advantage of the highly popular Group Booking Special and the long-awaited Single-day Zone 4 Walkabout tickets starting from S$68 only.
