World Series by Renault champion International Draco Racing has revealed the identity of its first signing for 2010, with Formula Renault graduate Nathanael Berthon accepting the challenge of following in Bertrand Baguette's wheeltracks.
The Frenchman was among those on track with Draco during the recent Barcelona group test, and produced sufficiently strong lap times to convince team boss - and renowned talent scout - Adriano Morini to put pen to paper.
"It was a hard choice because almost all the drivers that we tested were having their first experience in the World Series car," team manager Nadia Morini revealed, "However, after Berthon's test, we knew immediately that he had the qualities that we need.
"We are very pleased to have taken this decision, and will do a test at the Cartagena circuit on 3 December before preparing ourselves for the official sessions in January. The team and the new driver are ready to deal another season at the highest level."
Berthon arrives at Draco as reigning French Formula Renault champion, having also finished sixth overall in the Eurocup, and brings a sackful of karting titles from his junior career.
"I am really very happy to be taking part in the World Series by Renault with Draco, and will surely do my best next season," the French youngster claimed, "Of course, the goal is always to win the championship and, with Draco, everything is possible!"
