Lotus to enter junior team

Lotus F1 Racing Junior will compete in the 2010 World Series by Renault after entering into a collaboration with fellow Malaysian operation MoFaz Racing
The World Series by Renault will forge closer links to Formula 1 in 2010 after MoFaz Racing announced it will enter into a partnership with Lotus to become their junior outfit.

The Lotus name returns to F1 in 2010 after an absence of 16 years, although this time it will compete under a Malaysian flag having been formed and funded by a number of Malaysian consortiums, including Lotus' parent company, Proton.

Despite the late formation of the team - Lotus assumed BMW's entry into the championship following its withdrawal last year - plans have forged ahead to include the formation of a junior operation in the World Series by Renault.

Entering into a collaboration with Malaysian-backed MoFaz Racing, the outfit will be rebranded Lotus F1 Racing Junior Team and share the same livery with its F1 stablemate.

Lotus F1 test driver and 2009 World Series by Renault runner-up Fairuz Fauzy is tipped to remain on board for the 2010 season.

This isn't the first time a World Series by Renault team has established links to F1, with 2009 champions Draco Racing competing in an identical livery to that of Force India F1.
