Circuit de Catalunya: Will Stevens admits it has been a season of ups and downs

P1 Motorsports' Will Stevens reflects on a season of ups and downs as the Formula Renault 3.5 season comes to a close.
P1 Motorsports', Will Stevens has admitted to that it has been an inconsistent Formula Renault 3.5 season for the team. Four podiums, including a second place finish from race one at the Circuit de Catalunya, have been met with four retirements and numerous reliability issues.

Speaking shortly after his podium ceremony yesterday, Stevens reflected on the season so far.

“This year the pace has been good over more than one lap but we have just struggled to string everything together. The pace has been strong enough that we can fight for podiums but our DNFs don't help us to fight for championships”, he reveals.

“It has been a season of ups and downs”.

As the season draws to a close, Stevens was quick to echo how important signing for the Caterham Racing Academy has been for helping him regain his form in the latter stages of the season. The Briton, signed with the Formula 1 team's development programme mid way through the racing calendar.

“Joining an affiliation to an F1 team, you can create a package and begin to progress. I am building on my racing and my knowledge with Caterham”.

Now hoping to bring an end to the inconsistency faced by the team, Stevens reveals he wants to end his season on a high as the final race looms ever closer.

“I want to get a win this year. The car's good so there a few things we can try. I am hoping that a good qualifying will help us. Between me and Kevin it has been close so we will see what happens”, he continues.

Stevens starts fourth for today's race, three positions behind 2013 Formula Renault 3.5 champion, Kevin Magnussen who claimed his eighth pole for this year.
