Jazeman Jaafar will compete in a second consecutive Formula Renault 3.5 series with a move to ISR Racing for 2014.
The Malaysian's participation in the championship comes following successful testing campaigns in both GP2 and FR3.5 in late 2013. He tested with the Czech team, ISR, in Motorland, Aragon but has long-standing connections to Carlin, with whom he has raced since 2010.
He enters the 2014 championship with a third place finish in Monaco and three further points finishes from last year. The PETRONAS Talent Programme driver also experienced the thrill of Mercedes AMG's 2011 F1 car in his home country during a showcase in November. Jaafar is Malaysia's most successful representative in recent years.
When speaking of his 2014 signing, Jaafar spoke of how a strong relationship with his new team will be important in obtaining success.
“It is great to have my plans finalised early in the year so that I can focus on my second season of Formula Renault 3.5 and be as well prepared as I can be ahead of the first race. We have a series of pre-season tests ahead so this will give me time to build a strong relationship," he said.
Continuing his statement, the young Malaysian noted that his connection to the team felt immediate.
“I really enjoyed my test with ISR last year. I quickly gelled with the team, felt comfortable in the car and had a very productive day. Since then, we've had a number of meetings and developed a clear strategy for the year ahead, so I'm very excited for the 2014 season," he concluded.
Formula Renault 3.5 will return for testing on the 26-27th February in Motorland, Aragon.
