Red Bull Junior, Carlos Sainz, posted the quickest lap time during the morning test bettering the record set by Oliver Rowland on Tuesday.

The Spaniard's clocking of 1:38.340, which was set in the last few minutes of the session, out-paced Rowland's time by one tenth-of-a-second.

Rookie and fellow Red Bull junior, Pierre Gasly, was almost half a second behind in his Arden Motorsport model. The morning was mostly led by the Frenchman before the impressive showing from Sainz Jr knocked him off the top spot.

Meanwhile, Pietro Fantin continued his good run of form to finish third followed by Will Stevens, Sergey Sirotkin and Jazeman Jaafar.

Once sitting second behind his DAMS team mate, Sainz Jr, Norman Nato had to settle for seventh. Rookie, Matthieu Vaxiviere was the quickest Team Lotus driver in eighth with Matias Laine and Zoel Amberg completing the top ten.

After receiving a penalty, Rowland was unable to capitalise on his previous pace and finished down in seventeenth place.

Testing will continue into the afternoon.
