Matthieu Vaxiviere led Nicholas Latifi to a Lotus 1-2 on the second morning of Formula Renault 3.5 post-season testing in Jerez, Spain.
Frenchman Vaxiviere dominated the morning session, lapping the Spanish circuit almost half a second faster than Latifi. The Canadian tested replaces Alex Fontana in the Lotus after a day with Strakka Racing yesterday.
Fastest yesterday, International Draco Racing driver's Pietro Fantin was third fastest with Malaysia's Jazeman Jaafar fourth for Fortec Motorsports. Just five tenths-of-a-second separated the two experienced FR3.5 racers in the morning.
2014 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup title-holder Nyck De Vries was fifth fastest for DAMS in his most confident showing with the reigning champions. He is one of two drivers confirmed for the 2015 season. Fellow rookie, Arden Motorsport's Jordan King, was just two hundredths behind in sixth with Beitske Visser and Luca Ghiotto seventh and eighth fastest respectively.
Denis Olsen and Richard Gonda completed the top ten.
Jake Hughes, a last-minute call up for Strakka Racing was eighteenth after spending most of the session on used tyres. The eighteen drivers will return to the track this afternoon for the last of Formula Renault 3.5's test this week.
