Nicholas Latifi stayed fastest on the third and final day of Formula Renault 3.5 post-season testing at Motorland, Aragon.
The Canadian was fastest in the morning and held on to the top spot despite a fast-finishing Oliver Rowland threatening his lead throughout the afternoon. Latifi is competing with Arden Motorsport today but has also been at the helm of both Lotus and Strakka Racing models this week.
Making his return to the FR3.5 cockpit today, Rowland settled for second overall and just three tenths-of-a-second behind the leader for Fortec Motorsports. The Racing Steps Foundation backed driver was fourth during his successful 2014 campaign with the British outfit.
FR3.5 podium finisher Jazeman Jaafar was third fastest after he produced a late flying lap in the DAMS Racing challenger, just one tenth faster than Lotus' Matthieu Vaxiviere. The Frenchman was fastest yesterday but fell down the order on the final day of running. His team mate Andrea Pizzitola was fifth in the second Lotus. Frenchman Pizzitola, one of several drivers vying for a full-time seat with the Czech outfit, was the fastest rookie on track.
Pietro Fantin was sixth fastest for International Draco Racing with Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup graduate Lucas Auer seventh. Egor Orudzhev, Beitske Visser and Denis Olsen completed the top ten overall. Olsen completed more laps than any other driver in the afternoon, finishing 47 full rotations of Aragon within the four hours allocated.
Nyck De Vries was down in fifteenth despite contesting the session in Carlos Sainz Jr's championship winning DAMS. The McLaren junior and Columbia's Oscar Tunjo are the only drivers currently confirmed for next year.
FR3.5 will return for more testing in the coming months.
