FR3.5 Silverstone: Silverstone date pushed back after MotoGP deal

Silverstone's renewed deal to host the 2015 British MotoGP means the World Series by Renault has amended the date for its UK return.
The return to UK soil for the Formula Renault 3.5 Championship has been moved back a week following the announcement that Silverstone will accommodate MotoGP on the previously agreed date.

After an absence of two years, Silverstone was originally scheduled to host the UK's first World Series by Renault event since 2012 on the August 29-30th Bank Holiday weekend.

However, the collapse of the Circuit of Wales' deal with Donington Park to host the British MotoGP on the same date in 2015 has seen Silverstone step in to reassume hosting duties of an event it has held since 2010.

The new contract was only made possible, however, by Renault Sport officials allowing its event to move back a week to the following weekend on 5-6 September. It is an accommodation that Silverstone Managing Director Patrick Allen has shown his gratitude for.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers who have moved their event dates to enable us to accommodate MotoGP. Particular thanks must go to Renault Sport who have been extremely helpful in working with us to move the date to September 5th & 6th of their World Series by Renault event.”

The move means the World Series by Renault will experience a longer than expected summer break stretching seven weeks between July's Red Bull Ring round and the reschedule Silverstone event.

''Through our close relationship with Silverstone, we have been able to quickly find a fully satisfactory solution,” said Renault Sport Technologies managing director Patrice Ratti. “This will allow the passionate fans to come in droves on 5 and 6 September to attend this comeback in Great-Britain which gathered an average of more than 100.000 people on the last editions.''
