Jazeman Jaafar is well placed to continue his love affair with Monaco after qualifying on pole position for the second round of the season.
Having scored podiums in 2013 and 2014, Jaafar is now in position to challenge for his maiden win in the Fortec car having topped the faster Group B session.
Comfortably fastest overall with a time of 1min 23.425seecs, the Malaysian will lead team-mate and championship leader Oliver Rowland after he went quickest in Group A.
First-time winner in Aragon, Matthieu Vaxiviere will start from third position, sharing the second row with Nyck de Vries, who moved up the order when glitches with the timing was sorted out, the McLaren protégé lifted up to fourth place, ahead of Dean Stoneman, Tio Ellinas, Tom Dillmann, Gustav Malja, while Egor Orudzhev and Petro Fantin round out the top ten positions.
Group A was red flagged for a time after Indonesian Philo Paz Armand crashed heavily at the Swimming Pool, causing significant damage to his Pons Racing car, but otherwise escaping unharmed.
