Tio Ellinas set the pace in Formula Renault 3.5 qualifying and will line up first on the grid for his maiden pole at Silverstone.
The Strakka Racing driver was the long-time leader of qualifying and capitalised on his strong practice pace to lap three tenths-of-a-second faster than championship contender Matthieu Vaxiviere at his team's home circuit.
Oliver Rowland was the fastest of four British drivers at the historic circuit and will lead a Fortec Motorsports second row, with team mate Jazeman Jaafar fourth fastest. Meanwhile, Pietro Fantin and Tom Dillmann complete the third row.
Upon his return from a lengthy summer break, Nicholas Latifi showed some improvements for seventh with DAMS Racing youngster and McLaren protégé Nyck de Vries eighth. Fellow rookies Aurelien Panis and Gustav Malja completed the top ten. Home favourite Dean Stoneman, who was relishing the prospect of racing his DAMS at a home circuit, just missed out on the top ten and will settle for 11th fastest at the close of today's morning running.
Nick Yelloly's trip to the gravel prompted a yellow flag and he did not return to track. The Briton will start his FR3.5 return from 19th place. Roy Nissany, who also suffered in the rain of Silverstone at turn four, was 20th fastest after a collision with the wall resulted in a red flag and the end of the Israeli's session.
Formula Renault 3.5 race one will begin at 12:35 BST with Cypriot star Ellinas looking to take his maiden victory for Silverstone-based team, Strakka.
