Frenchman Matthieu Vaxiviere will start race two from pole position following a dominant qualifying session at the sixth round of the Formula Renault 3.5 championship at Silverstone.
Vaxiviere, second in qualifying yesterday, bettered his earlier time to post a 1:41.280. This is over half a second faster than Tio Ellinas' pole scoring effort on Saturday's dampened track. His championship rival Oliver Rowland will join him on the front row for what is sure to be a tantalising start for race two.
Returning racer Nick Yelloly was due to start third in the second Lotus, seven tenths-of-a-second down on his team mate, but a blue flag infringement from race one will drop him down to seventh. This promotes Nicholas Latifi who showed a promising return to form after an inconsistent season with Arden. Meanwhile, Pietro Fantin will start fourth with yesterday's winner Tio Ellinas now fifth.
The DAMS duo of Dean Stoneman and Nyck de Vries were separated by just one tenth but will face a penalised Yelloly throughout the race while Egor Orudzhev and Jazeman Jaafar completing the top ten. A tough week in the office continued for Jaafar who has struggled with straight line speed all weekend.
Race two will begin at 12:30 BST.
