Vaxiviere and Spirit of Race fastest on Wednesday morning

Spirit of Race, formerly competing under the guise of International Draco Racing, are relying on the experience of the 2015 FR3.5 runner-up as they look to progress in time for next year's season opener in April.

Matthieu Vaxiviere topped the Formula 3.5 V8 time sheets for new team Spirit of Race on the second morning of the championship's testing in Jerez.

Spirit of Race, formerly competing under the guise of International Draco Racing, are relying on the experience of the 2015 FR3.5 runner-up as they look to progress in time for next year's season opener in April. Vaxiviere was fastest with a 1m 27.331s in dry conditions, three tenths faster than day one leader Yu Kanamaru for Pons Racing.

Russian racer Matevos Isaakyan was third with Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup alumni Jake Hughes fourth in his Strakka Racing model with 2015 rival Louis Deletraz, fifth. Marvin Kirchhofer was a consistent sixth while an ever-improving Alfonso Celis Jr seventh.

Egor Orudzhev led the Tuesday afternoon timings but settles for eighth at the close of morning running, beating FR2.0 Eurocup champion Jack Aitken and BRDC McLaren winner George Russell to the top ten positions.

Richard Gonda was absent from today's running dropping the number of competitors to 18. However, RPM Racing, co-promoters of the new-look series - are expecting a 22 driver grid when the season begins at Motorland, Aragon.

12th placed Gustav Malja switched from Strakka Racing to Fortec Motorsport, taking the seat of Aitken who gave the Arden Motorsport car a run.
