New circuit record holder Tom Dillmann stayed fastest to top the overall time sheets on the second day of Formula 3.5 V8 post-season testing at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona.
The Frenchman, who is already signed to contest the 2016 championship with AVF following a move from Carlin, surpassed Kevin Magnussen's record of 1m 28.7s by one tenth of a second. His time is therefore the fastest ever recorded by a 3.5 litre challenger at the Spanish circuit, faster than the Manor Formula One cars lapped earlier this year.
Remaining second overall, Kevin Jorg separated the two AVF models by keeping Alfonso Celis Jr at bay. It was a confident showing for Jorg in the Lotus, almost one second behind the blistering pace set by the experience of AVF's Dillmann. Behind him, fellow rookie Jack Aitken put his case for a Fortec Motorsports seat forward with fourth place with Josef Zaruba fifth.
Despite some struggles in the afternoon, Markus Pommer was still a solid sixth place for new team RP Motorsport, leading the Russian Spirit of Race pairing at the close of Tuesday running. The famous name of Pietro Fittipaldi was a notable addition to this week's line up, placing ninth, one tenth faster than fellow Carlin competitor Jake Hughes.
Confirmed Fortec Motorsports driver was out of position in 12th for the defending champions, despite briefly equalling the slower afternoon pace of Dillmann. Both drivers set a steady 1:30.296 exactly before the pace increased.
