FV8: Panis and Arden Motorsport lead morning test

Arden Motorsport's latest signing Aurelien Panis led Formula V8 3.5 pre-season testing in Barcelona, Spain just weeks before the first race of 2016 gets under way next month.

Panis climbed up the ranks in the final hour to top the time sheets with a 1m30.835s, almost half a second faster than 2015 competitor Tom Dillmann who was at the helm of new AVF having switched from Carlin for the upcoming season.

Dillmann, the long-time leader of the morning session, was a further four tenths-of-a-second faster than Emil Bernstroff, a contender for a Strakka Racing seat in 2016.

The confirmed Fortec Motorsports duo of Pietro Fittipaldi and Louis Deletraz were fourth and sixth respectively with Alfonso Celis Jr separating them in the second AVF challenger. Meanwhile, Beitske Visser was seventh for Strakka Racing. The Dutchwoman was released from her Pons Racing contract upon the team's withdrawl from the upcoming 2016 FV8 championship.

Matthieu Vaxiviere, Rene Binder and Egor Orudzhev completed the top ten positions.

The morning session was the first time that the returning team Durango Racing and newcomers, RP Motorsport and Teo Martin Motorsport since announcing their participation in the 2016 FV8 championship.
