Morning leader Aurelien Panis remained unbeaten in the afternoon session to stay fastest with Arden Motorsport on the first day of Formula V8 3.5 testing in Barcelona, Spain.

The confirmed 2016 driver controlled the final stages of the morning to post a 1m 30.835s, a time which would later go unbeaten. Experienced 3.5 litre competitor, AVF's Tom Dillmann, was closest to catching the Arden driver but settled for second overall, almost half a second behind.

Rene Binder and Egor Orudzhev were among the afternoon's biggest climbers to jump from ninth and tenth to third and fourth overall respectively. Meanwhile, 2015 runner-up Matthieu Vaxiviere showed some form for sixth with Spirit of Race.

Spirit of Race now competing under the guise SMP Racing, thus taking the name of the Russian company SMP Racing, well know for backing some of Russia's greatest young talents.

Further down the track, Roy Nissany, Louis Deletraz, Alfonso Celis Jr and Emil Bernstroff completed the top ten as the chequered flag signalled the end of Tuesday running in the Spanish capital.

The drivers will return to the track tomorrow for a second consecutive day of testing.
