Japanese racer Yu Kanamaru sat atop the Wednesday morning time sheets to go fastest on the second day of Formula V8 3.5 pre-season running in Barcelona, Spain.

Teo Martin Motorsport's only confirmed driver for the 2016 season improved from 12th on Tuesday to lap one tenth-of-a-second faster than the consistent force of second-placed Aurelien Panis.

Aurelien Panis, at the helm of his Arden Motorsport machine, was the first man to dip under 1m30 over one lap but was closely followed by Tom Dillmann in third. Meanwhile, former GP3 competitor Emil Bernstrorff was the fastest rookie for fourth with Strakka Racing.

Louis Deletraz was fifth fastest with defending champions Fortec Motorsport and was closely matched by the confirmed Lotus duo of Roy Nissany and Rene Binder who were sixth and seventh fastest at the close of morning competiton.

Newly-released Betiske Visser has been left without a drive since Pons Racing departed the RPM-endorsed series and hopes to keep the possibility of a Strakka Racing seat alive with an eighth fastest time.

Further down the order, Matthieu Vaxiviere was ninth with Pietro Fitipaldi rounding out the top ten in the second Fortec challenger. Elsewhere, Matevos Isaakyan was 11th with the young Russian, Egor Orduzhev, 13th for Arden Motorsport.
