A dominant Yu Kanamaru kept his Teo Martin Motorsport challenger fastest to stay untroubled on the second and final day of pre-season Formula V8 3.5 testing in Barcelona, Spain.
Kanamaru's fastest time, a 1m 29.571s, set in the morning, was not surpassed to keep the Japanese racer in command of Wednesday running. Second to him was an on-form Aurelien Panis with the Frenchman a competitive second for Arden Motorsport.
Tom Dillmann was a solid third with the lesser experienced Emil Bernstrorff and Louis Deletraz following suit. Meanwhile, Roy Nissany won the battle of the Lotus drivers to narrowly pip team mate Rene Binder to sixth place, just weeks before their 2016 campaigns get under way.
Beitske Visser, at the helm of the Silverstone-built Strakka Racing model for the first time this week, was eighth overall 2015 Formula Renault 3.5 runner-up Matthieu Vaxiviere and Fortec Motorsport rookie Pietro Fittipaldi completing the top ten.
Johnny Cecotto Jr was the only driver to improve their time in the afternoon, pushing his debuting RP Motorsport challenger to 14th overall.
The maiden Formula V8 3.5 championship will begin at Aragon in two weeks time; the first season since Renault's departure as series promoters. At the time of writing, 11 competitors have been confirmed for a full-time 2016 campaign with Strakka Racing, RP Motorsport, Comtec Racing and returning team Durango Racing yet to publicly announce a driver.
