Louis Deletraz dominated the second and final day of Formula V8 testing to go fastest with defending Formula Renault 3.5 champions Fortec Motorsports, one week before the 2016 season opener.
The Swiss racer, currently the reigning Formula Renault 2.0 NEC title holder, led the morning session with a 1m 40.235s which proved to be unbeatable in the afternoon.
2015 competitors Egor Orudzhev and Matthieu Vaxiviere were second and third respectively on the final day of testing with Pietro Fittipaldi fourth in the remaining Fortec Motorsports challenger.
Despite a strong performance in the afternoon, Tom Dillmann settled for fifth fastest overall with his new team AVF. The Frenchman departed Carlin Motorsport for the Spanish outfit at the end of last year.
Dillmann's compatriot Aurelien Panis was sixth with the Teo Martin Motorsport duo of Yu Kamamaru and Beitske Visser seventh and eighth respectively. While the former has been confirmed for the debuting team, Visser is yet to announce her plans for the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, further down the order, the Lotus pairing of Roy Nissany and Rene Binder completed the top ten positions before their 2016 campaign begins next week.
The first round will begin with the practice sessions on Friday 15th April before the weekend of racing gets under way at Aragon. Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup will support the first round where Fortec Motorsports return with 2015 momentum on their side.
As it stands, seven seats are still up for grabs. Returning team Durango and British outfit Comtec Racing are yet to announce a single driver while Kanamaru remains Teo Martin Motorsports only signing to date. Strakka Racing – race winners in FR3.5 – did not test this weekend and their future appears uncertain.
