Paul Ricard: Cecotto out, Janosz in for FV8 round

The 23-year-old Polish racer will experience his first taste of a FV8 car when he takes to the helm of the RP Motorsport model for his debut weekend, taking over from Cecotto Jr, a surprise winner of race one in Hungary two months ago
Artur Janosz will replace race winner Johnny Cecotto Jr at RP Motorsport for the fourth round of the Formula V8 3.5 championship at Paul Ricard this weekend.

The 23-year-old Polish racer will experience his first taste of a FV8 car when he takes to the helm of the RP Motorsport model for his debut weekend, taking over from Cecotto Jr, a surprise winner of race one in Hungary two months ago. Thanks to this maiden win, the Italian outfit now sits fifth in the eight team battle.

Janosz is perhaps best known to racing fans as a current GP3 driver for Trident but has extensive experience driving with RP Motorsport team, competing for them in Euroformula Open and Spanish Formula Three in recent years.

The Polish driver spoke of his excitement ahead of his FV8 debut with newcomers RP Motorsport.

"I cannot wait to get behind the wheel of the extremely fast and demanding car," he said just days before his first outing. "Although it will be my first race with this car, I have already worked with the team RP Motorsport; I will give my best to achieve for the team."

It is not yet clear whether Cecotto's departure is full-time or whether the Venezuelan will return for the remainder of the season. Janosz will compete alongside series regular Vitor Baptista.
