SMP Racing's Matthieu Vaxiviere stormed to back-to-back pole positions at the fifth round of the Formula V8 3.5 championship from the British circuit, Silverstone.

The Frenchman set his fastest time, 1m 40.836s, on his final rotation of morning running, although this time is three tenths-of-a-second slower than his pole lap from Saturday when conditions were much warmer.

Race one winner Roy Nissany is once again setting himself up for a podium finish to join the 2015 runner-up on the front row, just one hundredth of a second behind. He will line up in front of Egor Orudzhev, 12 hours after their race one collision which ended in the latter's retirement.

Rene Binder was consistent to make it a 2-4 for Lotus with Aurelien Panis, fifth. Arden Motorsport's Panis had some initial problems with track limit infringements at turn one but recovered to take a third row grid slot.

Tom Dillmann is looking to increase his championship lead but starts sixth with his closest title rival, Fortec Motorsport's Louis Deletraz, just behind. Meanwhile, the second Fortec challenger of Pietro Fittipaldi will line up eighth. Vitor Baptista and Alfonso Celis Jr completed the top ten.

Race two starts at 13:10 local time as the fight for the FV8 championship meets its halfway point. Oliver Rowland won race two for Fortec last year.
